Looking Glass Services Presents Virtual Reality at The Sawtooth Center
Looking Glass would like to thank everyone who attended our Virtual Reality presentation at The Sawtooth Center for Visual Arts last Saturday, October 27th, 2018. Great questions and discussion! Good turn out and lots of enthusiasm.
Looking Glass CEO, John McBride, began the presentation by introducing Looking Glass, our company, who we are, what we do, and how we do it. Then provided a brief history, followed with the current state of virtual reality and augmented reality today.
Trying Out VR for the First Time
After a round of questions and feedback, attendees were encouraged to test out some of the Virtual Reality equipment Looking Glass provided. For some users it was their first experience using Virtual Reality and we were happy to be the ones providing it. The AR/VR/MR Industry is just beginning and will require more enthusiasm from the public to encourage investment spurning growth. We want people to have a very positive experience when using virtual reality for the first time.
Sculpting In Virtual Reality with Oculus Medium
Since this was the Sawtooth Center, we felt it appropriate to have demos of software that artists might be interested in using. For sculpture, there is a great program developed by Oculus called “Medium”. Oculus Medium is an immersive VR experience that lets you sculpt, model, paint, and create objects in a VR environment. Medium is powerful, easy to use and lets you create amazing works of art, whether you’re a beginner, an aspiring creative, or a professional sculpture artist. Then export your creations to 3D programs or for printing!
Thank you to the Sawtooth Center for hosting the event. We had a great time sharing with the audience the benefits and opportunities presented by the exciting new world of Virtual Reality. If you would be interested in hosting your own Virtual Reality Demonstration at your next event contact us!
