HBCU in North Carolina Launches Virtual Reality for Nursing Students

Winston Salem State University, a historically black college and university, has become the first in the state to offer virtual reality training to nursing students. Teamed up with the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, WSSU is experiencing the shift to a customized virtual reality experience for the future generation of nurses. Ultimately this initiative aims to address the shortage of nurses we are currently experiencing.

The virtual reality program will allow students to apply what they have learned using simulations of real-world medical scenarios. This new curriculum is made possible thanks to UNCSA’s School of Filmmaking, Out of Our Minds Studio, and Looking Glass XR.
