The Diablo robot from Direct Drive Technology is the world’s first self-balancing, wheeled-leg robot powered entirely by direct-drive actuators. Blending the agility of legged motion with the efficiency of wheels, Diablo is built for research, development, and real-world deployment across industries.
With six M1502D direct-drive motors, Diablo offers smooth, gearless movement and ultra-quiet operation. Its three modes—standing, squatting, and creeping—enable it to adapt to diverse tasks, from carrying 4 kg upright to transporting 80 kg in crawling mode. It reaches speeds up to 2 m/s and handles slopes up to 30 degrees.
Designed for customization, Diablo supports ROS, Raspberry Pi, and C++ with an open SDK. Developers can easily add LiDAR, GPS, or cameras, tailoring it for specialized use. With up to 4 hours of battery life and a compact, durable build, Diablo is a versatile tool for inspection, logistics, education, and beyond.
